刑部尚書塞爾圖等人聯合上奏，爲請求皇上批示的事： 我們刑部會同吏部一起審了一個案子。事情是這樣：正黃旗滿洲花沙佐領下的領催奧爾吉泰，向上面報告說，他們佐領裏一個叫中書鍾吉雅的人，他老婆上吊死了。我們審問鍾吉雅，他供稱：今年四月十二日晚上，我正在洗腳，管老婆要手巾，老婆說“我又不是你的奴才”，就生起氣來，吵起嘴。我一時火大，把她狠打了幾下。確實我是帶着孩子先睡了，她也睡了。半夜她什麼時候上吊死的，我因爲睡得很沉，不知道。 死者孃家哥哥保柱的供詞說：我妹子嫁給鍾吉雅已經八年多了。鍾吉雅平時在家過日子就特別兇暴，我妹子一勸他，他就打。從前年就打得鼻青臉腫，一直到現在這個樣子。妹子死前，也跟我們說過她被打得鼻青臉腫的傷勢。我們當時想，既然嫁錯了人，就忍了。誰知前些天又把妹子痛打了一頓，妹子就上吊死了。 我們派檢驗官賈爾布、寶託、奧爾珠、何逵、文布、田喜等人去驗屍。驗見：脖子上有布帶勒出的印痕，兩頭沒接上，確實是上吊死的。左眼泡、右眼泡直到兩邊腮幫子，都有青紫色的傷，傷和傷互相連着疊着，分不出個數，都是被打的傷。要解開衣裳繼續檢查時，保柱請求說就別再解衣看了，因此就沒有再往下驗看。 查律例，夫妻是人倫的根本關係。鍾吉雅身爲官員，平時根本不講夫妻之道，無數次把他老婆打得鼻青臉腫，這回又因爲一丁點兒小事，把老婆臉上、眼上打得青一片紫一片，傷多得數不清，真是兇惡殘暴到了極點，嚴重玷污了官員的體統。據此，已經將中書鍾吉雅革職，並進行審辦。 爲此，我們謹奏請皇上批示。 乾隆三年六月初七 刑部尚書臣蔡廷議〔?〕 左侍郎臣塞楞額〔?〕 都察院左都御史臣〔?〕 刑部右侍郎臣建文庫〔?〕 太子太保〔?〕 ……（後面列銜人名因原檔模糊，用〔?〕代替）

A respectful memorial. The Grand Minister of the Deliberative Council and President of the Board of Punishments, Serte, and others, respectfully submit: In requesting an imperial decree. We, in conjunction with the Board of Civil Office, have deliberated and found: The company commander Orgidai of the Huwase company, Plain Yellow Manchu Banner, reported a case in which the wife of Jungsu Dzunggiya of the same company had hanged herself. Upon interrogation, Dzunggiya stated: On the evening of the twelfth day of the fourth month of this year, while washing my feet, I asked my wife for a towel. She said, “I am not your slave,” and became enraged and started quarreling. In a moment of anger, I struck her several times. I did indeed take the child and went to sleep, and I also fell asleep. I do not know at what time during the night she hanged herself, as I was sound asleep. The wife's own elder brother, Booju, stated: I gave my younger sister in marriage to Dzunggiya more than eight years ago. Dzunggiya has always been extremely cruel and violent at home; whenever my sister remonstrated, he would beat her. From last year onward, the beatings became constant, leading to this point. Before her death, my sister told us about the injuries she had sustained. Because the marriage had been made in error, we endured it. Recently, he beat my sister again, and as a result she hanged herself. We ordered the coroners Jalbu, Booto, Oldzu, Hokui, Wembu, and Tiyaanši to examine the corpse and wounds. There was a rope mark on the neck, the two ends not meeting; it was genuinely a death by hanging. From under both eyes down to both cheeks, there were purple-red wounds overlapping each other, impossible to measure in inches or fractions; these were wounds from beating. When we were about to remove the clothing for a closer inspection, Booju said, “Please stop looking,” so no further examination was made. We have investigated: The relationship between husband and wife is bound by human ethics. Dzunggiya, being an official, on ordinary days utterly failed to observe the proper duties between husband and wife, and beat his wife without restraint. Over a trivial matter, he inflicted such severe injuries on his wife's head and face that the purple-red wounds could not be measured—this is extremely cruel and a gross violation of an official's code of conduct. Therefore, we have dismissed Dzunggiya from office and are deliberating his punishment.
